PasswordsBy default, in the security system, passwords are not required. This means that the security system is not active. In such a case, anyone with access to a computer where DT Max is loaded can enter and modify the database. This should be avoided unless the office is very secure and has limited staff. If you select the alternate option Passwords required, the following warning will appear: The company policy for this database is about to be changed to require all users to enter personal passwords when starting DT Max. You will need to edit the security records of all users to allocate personal passwords. Click OK to continue, or "Cancel" to keep the existing policy. If no staff member in your office has been assigned the status of system supervisor yet, you will not be able to select the option Passwords required. In that case, before changing the system security level, choose Individual users' passwords and rights in the Security system option of the Preferences menu, and set up at least one user as system supervisor. MFAMulti-factor authentication, or MFA, provides an additional level of security. It requires two forms of authentication before a user is allowed to start DT Max. First, the user must supply a password (different from the DT Max password described above), and then the user must be in possession of a previously registered device, such as a smartphone or tablet. Instead of just relying on something you know (a password), it also relies on something you have (a smartphone or tablet). MFA can be used with or without DT Max passwords. For instructions on how to enable MFA for your database, please consult the document Multi-factor authentication. November 26, 2018 |
